Scientific/technical activitiesSFI engaged with West Fraser (a Canada based Forest Management company) to propose 3,250 hectares as candidate for “Other Effective Conservation Measures” (OECM), publicly owned commercial timber management areas to contribute to meeting Canada’s obligations to meet Aichi targets under the Convention on Biological Diversity, and conserving biodiversity in situ on terrestrial areas.On-going
Scientific/technical activitiesSFI is engaging with a Wildlife Conservation Initiative with forest management companies, trade associations, research organizations and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to develop approaches to better understand the role of managed forests in conserving threatened and endangered species, and providing pathways to streamline their contributions to species protection and recovery.On-going
