Description and results/achievements of activities:
Healthy Parks Healthy People - NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service continues to highlight the important benefits of spending time in nature to improved health and well-being outcomes through partnerships with health initiatives e.g. Western Sydney Diabetes Alliance, Healthy Eating Active Living Senior Officers Group. NSW also supported and helped to facilitate the Australian Committee IUCN symposium on Healthy People in a Healthy Environment.

Challenges include making non-traditional partnerships, establishing credibility for the concept. Measures to overcome include networking, demonstrating relevance of nature in different scenarios, and using extensive scientific literature to ensure policies are evidence based.

National Parks and nature and now being included in NSW government strategies and policies relating to health, tackling obesity and diabetes, and sport and recreation.
