Policy influencing/advocacyThe UNGA has established an Intergovernmental Conference (IGC) to negotiate a new implementing agreement under UNCLOS. ECO urged the NZ government to support the IGC and to support an agreement that allows for teh establishment on MPAs. The provisions 1 and 3 have been completed but provisions 2 and 4 are relevant to the IGC process.On-going
Please report on the result /achievement of the actions taken: 
The establishment on the IGC and negotiating for an agreement which includes the four issues in item 1 of the resolution is a major step forward after nearly a decade of discussion.
What challenges have you encountered in implementing this Resolution and what measures have you taken to overcome them?: 
The challenge is the slow process of negotiations leading up to the IGC and the technical nature of the discussions.
Identify and briefly describe what future actions are planned for the implementation of this Resolution:

Policy influencing/advocacyEnsuring that the IGC process results in a legally binding agreement which includes science based processes to establish MPAs. This measure may be replaced by a new resolutions that addresses the issues in the IGC. If this measure is not replaced then it should not be archived as the issues are relevant to IUCN and IUCN members work.
