Scientific/technical activitiesOngoing count of a disputed fish-eating bird. For the state-wide distribution and abunance of wintering cormorants (Phalacrocorax carbo) commissioned by the state office for the environment, coordinated by the Association for Bird Conservation in Bavaria, conducted by volunteers counting birds in the field. Data are used for research on the development of the non-breeding population and for result testing of effects of hunting to alleviate impact on local fishing ponds, based on legal exemptions. Data collection cooperatively with volunteers from both, members of conservation society and local fishing associations. Aims: A basis for result testing and trust building between the different interest groups in the management of a highly disputed fish-eating species, evaluation of the effect of hunting.On-going

Long-term database allows scientific anaylsis of the development of the non-breeding cormorant population in Bavaria / Germany.
What challenges have you encountered in implementing this Resolution and what measures have you taken to overcome them?: 
Specificity of hunting data need be improved to allow more detailed analyses. Hunting quota need to be coordinated and adjusted to study results.
