Describe the results/achievements of the activities
Resolution 034 calls for the inclusion of ecological integrity in the Global Biodiersity Framework aims and targets. To date the draft versions on GBF post 2020 framework include explicit mention to ecological integrity both in aims and in targets, but negotiations are still ongoing.
Challenges/obstacles encountered in the implementation of this Resolution and measures taken
Ambiguity on the term "Integrity" is a limitation to its adoption. Several IUCN members and Comision partners have provided metric options.
Future actions / activities needed for the implementation of this Resolution
Is very likely that ecological integrity will be part of the post-2020 framework fulfilling the aim of the resolution. Additional policy influencing in forthcomming COP will be needed to ensure final version aproved.
However providing clarity on metrics, that allow monitoring of the agreed targets, will e key to practical implementation. This is beyond the scope of the resolution.
