Describe the results/achievements of the actions taken:
The implementation of the resolution WCC-2022-Res-057 has been led by a group comprising of members from Conservation International, CEESP & CEM, including Rosimeiry Portela and Nicholas Conner. The implementation of this resolution parallels the implementation of the resolution WCC-2022-Res-057 Towards a Policy on Natural Capital, including the establishment of a working group to develop IUCN Natural Capital Policy. A similar working group is needed for the implementation of this resolution and the members of the two working groups may have some overlap.
Besides actions taken to establish a working group, there are many activities underway by IUCN Commissions, Members, and Secretariat that support the implementation and further development of accounting along the principles developed in the UN System of Environmental-Economic Accounting, including implementation of SEEA by IUCN Member States and actions by IUCN's different constituent parts to support it. These activties are described on an onging basis by the United Nations at https://seea.un.org/
What challenges/obstacles have been encountered in the implementation of this Resolution and how were they overcome :
The implementation of the resolution WCC-2022-Res-057 requires financial resources to support activities to be undertaken by the working group.
Briefly describe what future actions are needed for the implementation of this Resolution:
1) Establishment of a working group to support implementation and further development of accounting framework for biodiversity, including ecosystems, species and genetic biodiversity. 2) Continued action by IUCN Commissions, Members, and Secretariat to support activities listed in the resolution.
