Field activitiesEstablishment of forest nurseries to provide energy alternatives and reduce the consumption of mangrove firewood. Implementation of 6 ha of agroforestry systems with the Inga Edulis species, fruit trees and native vegetables (Yucca, sweet potato, chipilín and malanga) to reduce traditional slash-and-burn agriculture. Installation of 36 wood-saving stoves to reduce mangrove felling. Reforest 5 ha of tropical forest in the community of San Juan for sustainable management and use of timber species.Completed
Please report on the result /achievement of the actions taken: 
Increase the forest cover of 12.09 ha in degraded areas in the communities of San Juan and Barra Sarstún.
6.23 ha of agroforestry systems made up of fast-growing woody species were established.
Installation of community mangrove nurseries with the capacity to produce 5,000 plants.
Experience exchange tour with community leaders to learn about a successful mangrove conservation experience in Guatemala.
