Description and results/achievements of activities:
SFI delivers green work experiences for young professionals to create green career paths to sustain a lifetime connection to outdoors, nature and sustainability. SFI believes that work experiences have the potential to expose young adults to new career options and build skills to be used further in their career path. Through Project Learning Tree Canada’s Green Jobs program, we can connect young professionals with opportunities in the forest and conservation sector.

Describe any challenges encountered in implementing this Resolution and the measures taken
COVID-19 had a significant effect on the green jobs sector changing the nature of work. We worked with employers and our network to create meaningful work opportunities for young professionals to ensure that they developed the skills and experiences to drive a lifelong career path in the forest and conservation sector.

Since 2020, SFI through PLT Canada’s Green Jobs has supported the placement of over 2,500 young professionals in green jobs work experiences across Canada.

Continue delivery of green work experiences for young professionals to create green career paths to sustain a lifetime connection to outdoors, nature and sustainability. Look for opportunities to continue to deliver meaningful work experiences and connect diverse young people with opportunities to grow their green career pathway.
