Description and results/achievements of activities:
One of the requirements of IUCN Resolution WCC-2020-Res-023 is to ensure that the Directorate General and the Species Survival Commission (SSC) produce by 2022 a comprehensive analysis of the impacts of non-selective fisheries on endangered, threatened, or protected (ETP) species. Since last year, I have been in contact with members of the SSC and with the SSC Chairs Office Team in November 2021 to follow their progress on the comprehensive analysis. So far to my knowledge, this comprehensive analysis has not yet been produced. However, I note that there is a will to trigger the process. The discussion has moved further with a proposal from the SSC Marine Conservation Coordinator, and other members, to see with the SSC Chair team how time can be allocated and what strategy can be used to complete the analysis by 2022.
