Scientific/technical activitiesWe established the first aviary that contains in captivity the 15 species of wild Mexican quail (Odontophoridae) as an ex-situ conservation effort and investigation of their reproduction and breeding in captivity, including threatened species and of binational interest (Mexico / United States of North America). ) in conjunction with the state authorities of the state of Sonora, Mexico (State Commission for Sustainable Development and Ecological Center of the State of Sonora) and civil society organizations (Mexican Alliance for the Conservation of Wildlife & Sonoran Aviary for the protection of wild species)On-going

Obtain free-living specimens capable of adapting to captive conditions and with reproductive potential. Control the appropriate humidity and temperature conditions for each species
