Capacity-buildingIUCN secretariat has continued the communication of the guidance on mitigating biodiversity impacts associated with wind and solar energy generation. In addition, the IUCN Mediterranean office in 2022 has released guidance on avoiding impacts to wildlife from electricity powerlines. In 2022 we have continued to work with renewable energy companies to provide guidance on best practice towards assessing and mitigating cumulative impacts from renewable energy generation. On-going
Education/Communication/Raising awarenessIUCN secretariat has worked with the renewable grid initiative and the Offshore Coalition for Energy and Nature via workshops and meetings (in December 2021 and October 2022) with the renewable energy industry to raise awareness of the potential impacts of renewable energy generation on biodiversity On-going
What challenges have you encountered in implementing this Resolution and what measures have you taken to overcome them?: 
The Resolution calls for the repealing of laws and policy that obstruct energy efficiency and renewable energy use and the removal of fossil fuel subsidies, this issue is the responsibility of state members and so far, (especially with the current war in Ukraine), there seems to be limited appetite for repealing such legislation. I

Scientific/technical activitiesIUCN secretariat and Members will produce guidance and case studies on cumulative impacts and spatial planning to promote best practice in the siting of renewable energy projects
