Description and results/achievements of activities:
Kolmarden Foundation has supported the protection of the black rhino in Kenya, by donating funds to the Ngulia project in Kenya. The projects main focus is to develop tech that can be used to monitor and protect the rhinos im the rhino sancturay Ngulia. The new technology is developed to be, among toher things, long-lasting, easy to use and make the work safer for the rangers.

In 2022 Kolmarden Foundation raised and donated 100 000 SEK (8 560 EUR) to the Ngulia project. The poaching of rhinos have gone down in the Ngulia reserve and now there are more rhinos living there than ever, from 64 in 2014 to 140 in 2022. The technology used in Ngulia is planned to be distributed to other parks around Kenya. Intelligent cameras that can identify animals and humans have been improved (can for example detect objects on a distance of 100 m instead of 20 m)and implemented.
