The IUCN-CEM FIsheries Expert Group (FEG) recruited two additional high-level experts on inland fisheries and biodiversity issues, establishing a small inland fisheries subgroup in FEG.

Ascoping paper is being prepared toexamine the key biodiversity issues emerging in inland fisheries, as a basis for future work.

Finding experts with a strong background on both inland fisheries and biodiversity conservation. Financial limitations.

The FEG Group is better prepared to deal with inland fisheries issues but funding remains a central issue. Good collaboration has been established with the Inland Fisheries Alliance and FAO inland fisheries unit.
