Field activitiesA project, funded by NSF-Fapesp is collecting data with with the goals of understanding spillover risk in areas with both forest loss and forest gain.This project will increase the knowledge about how the loss and gain of forests in tropical areas affects the health of the environment and animals, and consequently the risk of epidemics and pandemics. the grant was awarded in October 2022 and the project starts in January 2023.On-going
Policy influencing/advocacyThe preliminary results of this project were publisized in the SBSTTA COP, in Nairobi, 2024, and in three international conferencesCompleted
Please report on the result /achievement of the actions taken: 
The main results of this project include more specific guidelines for the implementation of forest restoration projects in tropical areas with win-win benefits for both conservation and human health; and to communications with WHO, WHOA and SER about how forest restoration projects should be implemented in order to be effective to mitigate zoonotic disease risk.
