Describe the results/achievements of the actions taken:
An agreement has been signed between IUCN Med and the Spanish Association of Mineral Waters (ANEABE) to assist in identifying biodiversity indicators for their Strategic Sustainability Plan. This initiative aims to preserve the environment surrounding natural springs and their ecosystems.
ANEABE is the main association of private companies in Spain from the sector dedicated to the packaging of water in its various categories: natural mineral water, spring water, and prepared drinking water.
What challenges/obstacles have been encountered in the implementation of this Resolution and how were they overcome :
The resolution focus the public policies on freshwater conservation, asking the Member states, on one hand, for a greater law enforcement for the conservation and the wise use of these ecosystems. And, on the other hand, to prioritise the conservation of Mediterranean springs in their nature conservation plans. No specific or particular request is established for the Secretariat.
Bearing in mind that the implementation of this recommendation has not yet started, it is premature to assess on the challenges or obstacles for its implementation.
Briefly describe what future actions are needed for the implementation of this Resolution:
Develop one of the activities agreed on the MOU with ANEABE relate to the elaboration of a survey among the main companies across the sector to develop practical guidelines on good practices for biodiversity.
