| Capacity building | The SSC Freshwater Conservation Committee (FCC) has not contributed to the implementation of this Resolution, and has not been in direct communication with the organizations responsible for implementing this Resolution. However, recognizing the importance of the conservation of springs and pools globally, we have been in discussions with other IUCN partners in developing a more globally directed Motion on the conservation of springs and pools, for submission to the 2025 Congress, and the potential development of a cross-Commission Task Force. The objective will be to advance the the concepts of 2020 Res-016 to a more global scale. This was discussed in some detail at the 2024 SSC Leaders Meeting and there appears to be strong support from several IUCN-SSC partners. A key part of this Resolution and associated actions would be to promote springs and pools as a critical part of IUCN's freshwater strategy, and to ensure that springs and pools are properly represented in countries' actions for inland water restoration (GBF Target 2) and protection (GBF Target 3). | On-going | Full activity report |

An agreement has been signed between IUCN Med and the Spanish Association of Mineral Waters (ANEABE) to assist in identifying biodiversity indicators for their Strategic Sustainability Plan. This initiative aims to preserve the environment surrounding natural springs and their ecosystems.
ANEABE is the main association of private companies in Spain from the sector dedicated to the packaging of water in its various categories: natural mineral water, spring water, and prepared drinking water.

Challenges/obstacles encountered in the implementation of this Resolution and measures taken
The resolution focus the public policies on freshwater conservation, asking the Member states, on one hand, for a greater law enforcement for the conservation and the wise use of these ecosystems. And, on the other hand, to prioritise the conservation of Mediterranean springs in their nature conservation plans. No specific or particular request is established for the Secretariat.

Develop one of the activities agreed on the MOU with ANEABE relate to the elaboration of a survey among the main companies across the sector to develop practical guidelines on good practices for biodiversity.
