Implementation
Indicate which actions have been carried out to implement this Resolution :
Policy influencing/advocacy
Describe the results/achievements of the actions taken:
Resolution 034 calls for the inclusion of ecological integrity in the Global Biodiersity Framework aims and targets.
GOALS: Goal A The integrity, connectivity and resilience of all ecosystems are maintained, enhanced, or restored, substantially increasing the area of natural ecosystems by 2050;
TARGETS: Target 1, Target 2 and Target 12
DEFINITIONS. As part of the Targets definitions, there is a clear definition of High ecological integrity - Ecosystems can be generally considered to have integrity when their dominant ecological characteristics (e.g., elements of composition, structure, function and ecological processes) occur within their natural ranges of variation and can withstand and recover from most disturbances.
What challenges/obstacles have been encountered in the implementation of this Resolution and how were they overcome :
Ambiguity on the term "Integrity" has posed a significant challenge during negotiation, given possible difficulties for defining targets and measuring progress
Briefly describe what future actions are needed for the implementation of this Resolution:
The resolution is implemented, with CBD adoption of KUNMING-MONTREAL GLOBAL BIODIVERSITY FRAMEWORK
To ensure follow up of actions A cross-commission task force in Ecological Integrity has been formed, and one first e-meeting has taken place. An in person meeting is planned for February 2025. The Ecological Integrity Task Force (EITF) will:
1. Synthesize available knowledge and understanding on ecological integrity, and clarify the definition of ecological integrity, and its relationship to other terms such as resilience, degradation, and ecosystem condition.
2. Identify the importance and benefits of ecological integrity for Commissions and their members.
3. Provide general recommendations on how to protect and improve ecological integrity
4. Encourage Commissions to address ecological integrity in their work programmes
5. Produce an issues brief on the subject of ecological integrity, produce a set of recommendations on how to protect and improve ecological integrity (both in general and with respect to specific ecosystems), and draft an IUCN policy statement to be approved by Council.

Also the CEM task force on Green Status of Ecosystem is very active developping framework will be recepient of results
Are these actions planned for yet:
Yes
