Comparative trials of TEDs in trawl fisheries
Four coastal fisheries in Malaysia are now mandated to use TEDs in their opertaions. We continue to work with other States to bring get them all to be TED compliant.

Buy-in from government to make TEDs a legal requirement; buy-in from fisheres who fear catch land income losses.
Future actions / activities needed for the implementation of this Resolution
Continue to convene training workshops for fishers and fishery officers.
Continue to develop and disseminate awareness materials at local events, at scientific conferences, and on social media.
Continue to trial new TED designs to best suit the local fishing methods and vessel.
Continue to seek funds to implement the TED project at a National level, in stages.
