Convene stakeholders/NetworkingWe have welcomed a seconded staff member from the Ministry of Environment, Japan who is working solely on OECMs, she will remain with IUCN until April 2026. She is fundraising for new opportunities for new projects within Japan and Asia region. On-going

Policy influencing/advocacyWe attended and presented at a number of policy events in 2024, including SBSTTA and CBD COP 16 to present IUCN Secretariat work as part of the global strategy to roll out the IUCN guidance and influence members to implement Target 3 of the GBF. Completed
Scientific/technical activitiesDissemination of the IUCN WCPA Guidance and new toolkit in Europe, Africa, Asia, Central Asia and the Pacific in partnership with UNEP-WCMC.On-going
Please report on the result /achievement of the actions taken: 
Strong uptake of IUCN guidance and tools across several regions, supporting development of regional and national strategies to include OECMs.
What challenges have you encountered in implementing this Resolution and what measures have you taken to overcome them?: 
Lack of understanding of OECMs by different actors, mainly governments and non-state actors such as IP+LCs. IUCN needs to develop a capactiy development programme with evidence based case studies to support implementation of our guidance
Identify and briefly describe what future actions are planned for the implementation of this Resolution: 
Future ActionDescription
Capacity-buildingA new IUCN capacity development programme is underway for non-state actors to report on OECMs in several languages. This will continue across 5 regions in 2025.
FundraisingWe are actively fundraising with the United Nations University to raise funds for a 3 year project.
