We have welcomed a seconded staff member from the Ministry of Environment, Japan who is working solely on OECMs, she will remain with IUCN until April 2026. She is fundraising for new opportunities for new projects within Japan and Asia region.

We attended and presented at a number of policy events in 2024, including SBSTTA and CBD COP 16 to present IUCN Secretariat work as part of the global strategy to roll out the IUCN guidance and influence members to implement Target 3 of the GBF.
