Description and results/achievements of activities:
The “Securing the Future of Mountain Gazelle Through Collaborative Conservation Endeavours” project, supported by Fondation Segré through the IUCN Save Our Species initiative and in partnership with Hatay Nature Conservation Association (TAKODER), focuses on safeguarding the critically endangered Mountain gazelle (Gazella gazella). The project integrates both in situ and ex-situ conservation strategies to enhance the survival and genetic diversity of the gazelle populations in the Hatay region. Through collaboration with the authorities, local stakeholders, and experts, we are implementing comprehensive conservation actions that include habitat restoration, establishment of new water sources, and agricultural support to improve gazelle nutrition.

Please report on the result /achievement of the actions taken
To date, we have successfully created three new water sources for the gazelles, improving their access to critical water during the dry season, especially in the breeding periods. We have also planted chickpeas over a 10-acre area, ensuring the gazelles have a sustainable and protein-rich food source. Additionally, we have implemented protective measures around old cisterns to prevent the gazelles from falling into them, while ensuring other species like bats can still access these structures. The project has facilitated education for 300 students and organised key stakeholder meetings to discuss and promote conservation efforts. A population management plan, led by, is also being developed to establish a new population and increase the gazelles' resilience against disease threats.

Description
Looking ahead, we plan to continue expanding and securing the gazelles' habitat by restoring additional key areas and ensuring further availability of water sources. Efforts will also focus on enhancing genetic diversity by introducing individuals into new, suitable habitats as part of a long-term reintroduction plan. The upcoming population management report will serve as a guide for these efforts. Continued monitoring and adapting our conservat
