Description
An itinerant exhibition on the cetaceans of Macaronesia has been developed, featuring life-size inflatable models that travel across all the Canary Islands with a clear educational purpose. This initiative has successfully captured the interest and curiosity of students, teachers, and the general public, becoming an effective tool for raising environmental awareness and fostering respect for marine biodiversity from an early age.
Through this exhibition, knowledge about the cetacean species that inhabit or migrate through the Macaronesian waters has been promoted, highlighting their ecological importance and the urgent need for their protection. The enthusiastic participation of schools, municipalities, and educators has demonstrated the strong potential of such initiatives as a vehicle for awareness and community engagement.
The success of this experience reinforces our belief that environmental education is a key pillar in the conservation of the marine environment. Our goal moving forward is to consolidate and expand these actions by incorporating new scientific content and outreach strategies to continue generating a positive and lasting impact within the community, especially among younger generations.
