IUCN SSC Animal Biobanking for Conservation Specialist Group continues to steadily grow its membership of biobanking experts, partnering with various global and regional institutions. The Co-Chair of the Specialist Group participated in a workshop on "Prioritizing Conservation Research and Breeding Actions for Recovery of the Sunflower Sea Star" in 2025 and highlighted the importance of prioritising biobanking measures to conserve the Sunflower Sea Star.
Future actions / activities needed for the implementation of this Resolution
Specialist Group will be organising/co-organising several biobanking workshops in 2025.
The Specialist Group will create communications materials on biobanking for conservation for non-specialists.
The Specialist Group will be conducting a gap analysis and publishing the findings.
