Organization of a major conference for the Environmental Peacebuilding Association which gathered together hundreds of experts in the field of environment and conflict.

IUCN WCEL Environmental Security and Conflict Law Network 2021-2025 spoke at a conference in Colombia on Restorative Transitional Justice of the JEP, in Sept 2024. One of the main topics discussed was the challenges and opportunities of treating the territory as a victim in the conflict. A member also presented to Colombian judges a Report on Presentation for Judges and Legal Officers of the JEP: “Protection of Natural Sites qua Cultural Property in Armed Conflict”

- Members of the SG responded to requests for input into an environmental criminal law and policy consultation by the International Criminal Court.

- WCEL compiled a proposal to add the environment into the Crimes Against Humanity Treaty in the GA, wrote a blog on those and then starting to work on advocacy by co-sponsoring a UN High Level Week Side Event for environmental destruction to be incorporated in a future Convention on Crimes Against Humanity

- WCEL published a report/guidance emanating from PERAC workshop in 2023 on CORPORATE DUE DILIGENCE AND LIABILITY FOR NATURAL RESOURCES SUPPLY CHAINS IN/FROM CONFLICT-AFFECTED REGIONS
- WCEL has advanced our aim of providing guidance to states in relation to implementation of the ILC's PERAC principles, which forms a major component of the Resolution. The broader work in the area of international criminal law and for specific conflicts, such as that in Ukraine, is also helping to achieve implementation of the Principles and advancing the protection of the environment in armed conflict.
