Describe the results/achievements of the activities
A number of activities have been done in 2024 for this Resolution. More will be added to an update once Project Seahorse Annual Report is finalised. The awareness raised was broad, based on the campaigns done in 2024 and thru May 2025.

The valentine’s day campaign was also a success - with six news articles and outreach on social media: https://projectseahorse.org/?s=valentine
Challenges/obstacles encountered in the implementation of this Resolution and measures taken
Communication between Secretariat and focal points due to lack of time and significant project needs creates a challenge to ensure implementation is moving forward. Research by Secretariat staff to fill this gap has been ongoing in support of the focal points. Need a list of the IUCN Members, especially State and Government Agency Members, who are active in implementing this work, as it is clear that many are involved to enforce regulations on fisheries, area-based management, habitat protection, wildlife trade and other
measures that protect syngnathids - including external IUCN partners. too. It would be interesting to understand if any of the Green List protected areas or data from the Red List of Ecosystems aligned to the Resolution point requesting that we protect and restore freshwater, transitional and coastal habitats that are important for syngnathid species, using best practices - can this be aligned perhaps through a few conversations?
Future actions / activities needed for the implementation of this Resolution
Ideally, how the data being generated in the Resolution can tie to Green List of Protect Areas, Red List Species and Red List of Ecosystems data (and others: star, ibat?) to showcase the interlinkages of this work across several pillars of IUCN's work including the new Knowledge Management (and data) strategy approved by Council in 2025. Fundraising would also be helpful to link to IUCN Members for support in carrying out this work more broadly.
Are these actions/activities planned?
No
