Description
Preparation of a premium art-science publication documenting the sustainable use of Cricula trifenestrata as a wild species, illustrating how correcting misclassification and reframing undervalued species within biodiversity-positive systems can generate ecological benefits and support sustainable economic opportunities for rural women, aligned with Resolution WCC-2025-Res-134.
Challenges / obstacles encountered in the implementation of this Resolution
Lack of financial funds
Lack of human resources
Describe any challenges encountered in implementing this Resolution and the measures taken
Implementation has been constrained by limited resources and persistent misinformation and misclassification of the species as a pest, which can reinforce chemical control approaches. Efforts have focused on evidence-based documentation and awareness-raising to demonstrate sustainable, community-based use and its ecological and socio-economic benefits.
Please report on the result /achievement of the actions taken
Increased visibility of sustainable, community-based use of Cricula trifenestrata as a wild species through coverage in the IUCN World Conservation Congress newsroom and submissions to United Nations calls for input, contributing to dialogue on biodiversity, cultural rights, and responsible wild species governance.
