The WCEL Ocean Law Specialist group is coordinating the creation of a series of thematic/ issue briefs for the development of a best practice guideline. Two products are in the draft phase: an introductory explainer brief on Rights of Nature as a foundational brief for the implementation of all related Resolutions, and a WCPA White Paper on Rights of Nature that will address marine protected areas for next years World Protected Area Congress.

A small convening of Island Nation States will occur alongside NYCW hosted by Vanuatu. The purpose is to exchange dialogue on Rights of Nature and understand how Rights of Nature may support current priorities, and discuss opportunities to advance Rights of Nature within national and international legal frameworks.
