At its meeting held on 10 April 2026, the Governance and Constituency Committee (GCC) of the IUCN Council decided to establish a Task Force to consider the implementation of Resolution 8.122, which overlaps with the actions of Resolution 8.100 concerning the organisation of an IUCN Global Youth Summit every four years, parallel to the IUCN World Conservation Congress, and the implementation of the IUCN Youth Strategy 2022–2030.

To date, and as agreed, the GCC Task Force should first review the relevant stocktaking reports and work with the Resolution focal point to gain a clearer understanding of current activities and implementation gaps under the IUCN Youth Strategy at its next meeting in October 2026.

It will then provide guidance on the role of the Youth Officer, as well as on fundraising, to help establish a sustainable funding arrangement regarding the implementation of the actions under both resolutions.
