Initial progress includes engagement with relevant conservation and energy actors and the integration of biodiversity considerations into broader IUCN work on nature-positive renewable energy investment and policy. Emerging work promotes environmental assessment, application of the mitigation hierarchy, cumulative-impact assessment, monitoring and reporting, consistent with several provisions of the Recommendation. However, available information does not yet demonstrate broad implementation of the Recommendation's specific measures on bat-fatality monitoring, regulatory requirements and incentives, open standardised data, or operational curtailment of wind turbines. Further engagement with States, wind-energy developers, financial institutions, CMS Energy Task Force and bat experts, together with documentation of actions already underway, will therefore be important for advancing implementation.
