This is a report of a range of activities happened in the Pacific during the Year of Biodiversity (PYoB) 2010. It contains the PYoB in pictures, SPREP's work in 2010, initiatives and knowledge products launched during the year.
This book addresses the economic component of ecologically sustainable development in the Pacific. It is primarily concerned with the role that conventional economic issues plays in the viability of natural resource and environmental projects in the Pacific. Key economic concepts, principles and topics covered in this book reflect issues that project managers are likely to encounter during the life cycle of a project.
The legislation of five countries on environmental and natural management is examined and analyzed in terms of its effectiveness in addressing the major environmental issues existing in each country. Practical recommendations are made, building on the findings of the review carried out by SPREP with the technical assistance of IUCN, and support from the ADB.
