This booklet provides an overview of the approaches and lessons learnt as a result of the implementation of the pilot phase of the ‘Water for Livestock Project’ in the arid and semi-arid lands of Kenya by International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the Kenya Red Cross Society, and Adeso.
This book is a compilation of news reports and feature articles published in various dailies and weeklies between April 1995 and August 1996 on the present status of the country's endangered wildlife, rare wild species, their habitat destruction, human and ecological pressure on their food and habitat, their illegal trade and conservation efforts carried out by various international and national agencies.
<p>Non-timber forest products (NTFP) include all the materials (excluding timber) collected from natural or man-made forests and riverine habitats, and used to support local livelihoods in Lao PDR: food, medicines, fibres, extracts and ornamentals. This handbook describes a hundred commonly used or sold NTFPs exclusively derived from plants. Each product (or species) is described as well as its conservation status.</p>
