Aquatic ecosystems

Fresh water : the essence of life is a beautifully and sometimes starkly depicted look at the current state of our Earth's freshwater ecosystems. This latest publication in the CEMEX Conservation Book Series will alert readers to key issues concerning fresh water: its resources, its uses (and abuses), and its future.

This monograph is devoted to the aquatic organisms inhabiting the different kinds of bodies of water present in Białowieża National Park. The publication offers the results of the 2015 inventorying of the aquatic habitats and organisms in the park. It marks the first time the Park's waters have been studied by such a large team of specialists hailing from various scientific centres across Poland.

This publication presents the structure, the particulars, the methods for identifying and prioritizing the invasive alien species issues, the information derived from the invited presentations and the posters, as well as the outcomes of the conference "Freshwater Invasives - Networking for Strategy (FINS)" of the Inland Fishers Ireland (IFI) and the European Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture Advisory Commission (EIFAAC).
