The aim of the expedition was the systematic exploration of the north-west corner of the former German-East African protected area, then the central African rift in its extension from Lake Kiwu to Lake Albert and finally the north-eastern border area of the Congo state. The positive results that the expedition has shown for science are recorded in special papers such as this publication on botany.
