It provides an overview on the character, extent and status of 233 natural and semi-natural, terrestrial and freshwater habitat types through assessments undertaken between 2013 to 2016. The results are presented at two geographic levels: across the EU28 and EU28+, including Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, and the Balkan countries.

Resilience of coastal systems and their human partners

Environmentally Sound Fisheries Management in Marine Protected Areas (EMPAS) in Germany

Since 2004 Germany established ten Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in the German Economic Exclusive Zone (EEZ, 12-200 nautical miles zone) of the North and Baltic Sea as a contribution to the European Natura 2000 network. The main target of the coherent network of Natura 2000 sites is to reach a favourable conservation status of habitats and species.
