Rwanda's green well

This desk-based study assesses the feasibility of attracting private investments to finance Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) in Rwanda. It provides a detailed review of the main factors that will determine if and how Rwanda can attract private (return-motivated) investors. The study also provides recommendations on how Rwanda can move forward and mobilize the resources and technical assistance needed to secure private investment in FLR.

Es ante todo una guía para la acción práctica; proporciona orientación para estructurar inversiones posibilitadoras y sentar las bases para inversiones de activos con rendimientos aceptables y riesgo reducido, no solo para los inversionistas sino para los poseedores de los derechos sobre los bosques locales, los gobiernos nacionales y la sociedad en su conjunto.

Guide to investing in locally controlled forestry

This guide is provides guidance on how to structure enabling investments and prepare the ground for asset investments that yield acceptable returns and reduced risk, not only for investors, but also for local forest right-holders, national governments and society at large. The volume sets out a framework for structuring investments with tactical advice for building the partnerships necessary for success. Also included are case studies of successful initiatives and a range of useful templates and sources for further information are provided.

Mangroves for the future : a strategy for promoting investment in coastal ecosystem conservation 2007-2012

Mangroves are among the most valuable ecosystems providing food and protection for a large number of marine and land-based organisms, livelihoods for coastal populations, and protection from ocean swell and other extreme weather events for low-lying coastal areas. In the wake of the 2004 Indian ocean tsunami there was a strong realization that much of the future devastation to human life and property could be avoided through the existence of healthy, properly-managed and conserved mangroves.

This work stems from the Inter-American Development Bank's support to Latin American and Caribbean participation in the IVth World Parks Congress. The region's experts who contributed to the Congress workshops focused on four specific areas: expanding the system of protected area wildlands, economic and ecological valuation of protected areas, financing the protected wildlands systems, and investment opportunities in protected areas.
