GCF programming manual

The GCF programming manual provides an overview of the GCF project/programme approval process, as adopted by the Board, to its stakeholders, including national designated authorities and accredited entities. It also offers guidance on how to prepare and submit a funding proposal that meets GCF investment criteria. The programming manual aims to make project origination, development, appraisal, approval and implementation processes more transparent and predictable, as well as to simplify the process of accessing GCF resources.

People and trees

Experts estimate that some 200 million hectares of new trees must be planted during the next ten years if developing countries are to meet their people's needs for tree products. The government, even with international support, cannot finance all, or even most, of the necessary work. Thus, much of the work must be done by the rural people themselves. Social forestry which inolves the local people in growing trees for their own use, is a critical factor in the lives of most rural people today.

Engineering for sustainable human development

In this book, Bernard Amadei addresses the role of engineering in poverty reduction and human development. He introduces a framework to help engineers conduct small-scale projects in communities vulnerable to the consequences of a wide range of adverse events. His framework combines concepts and tools traditionally used by development agencies with techniques from engineering project management and systems thinking.

Principles and guidelines for integrating ecosystem-based approaches to adaptation in project and policy design

This paper is a summary of a longer and fully referenced document by the same authors. It is an updated version of the draft guidelines developed by this group at a workshop and meeting held in Costa Rica in June 2011 to initiate a more formal and iterative process for Ecosystem Based Adaptation Guidelines which can be discussed at various international and regional events.
