Le Parc National de l’Ichkeul se situe au Nord-Est de la Tunisie à 75 Km de Tunis. Il occupe 12.600 ha, couvrant successivement la montagne (1.363 ha), le lac Ichkeul (8.500 ha), et les marécages (2.737 ha). Le lac et les marais sont depuis longtemps reconnus comme l’une des principales zones humides du bassin occidental de la Méditerranée. Cette étude vise à évaluer la valeur économique des services écosystémiques rendus par le parc national de l’Ichkeul (PNI).

This is the first book to provide assessments of multarget_idecadal changes in resources and environments of the Large Marine Ecosystems (LMEs) of the North Atlantic. Using the case study method, researchers examine the forces driving the changes and actions underway aimed at turning the corner from declining trends in biomass yields, toward recovery of depleted species populations and improvements in ecosystem integrity.

In the effort towards sustainability, it has become increasingly important to develop conceptual frames to understand the dynamics of social and ecological systems. Drawing on complex systems theory, this book investigates how human societies deal with change in linked social-ecological systems, and build capacity to adapt to change. The concept of resilience is central in this context.
