Wood

This study examines the benefits of wood as a construction material and discusses practices applied in the wood construction sector from the perspective of circularity, sustainability and climate change mitigation. It analyses how circularity concepts can be applied in the construction industry using different construction methods and at different stages of value chains.

The present book is devoted to dead wood, mainly in forests subjected to minimal management. Despite the focus of the book on sem-natural forests, dead wood is also necessary in managed forests and amounts generally found there ought to be increased. Dead wood and old, hollow trees are essential to a functioning forest ecosystem and necessary for the conservation of a myriad of species including some that are endangered.

The objectives of this book are: to gain an impartial view of potential developments of the forest resources in the European USSR; to build alternative and consistent scenarios of the future developments; to illustrate the effects of forest decline from air pollutants; to identify meaningful policy options concerning the forest resources of the European USSR; and to support future policy decisions concerning the forest resources of the European USSR. 

O livro descreve 80 espécies nativas, com informações sobre sua distribuição geográfica, fenologia, uso da madeira, relações com a fauna, cultivo e condução e seu comportamento e aspecto na mata ciliar. Esses conhecimentos foram acumulados pelo “Zé do Mato” ao longo de mais de 50 anos de vivência com implantação e acompanhamento de processos de restauração florestal, especificamente as matas ciliares.
