This is the most detailed and inspiring guidebook for hikers and nature lovers, describing all national parks in southwestern Europe, Macaronesia and the Alps. This book helps you to find the best place in this part of Europe with most orchids, most vultures, most wolves or most butterflies – or specific species if you are looking for such. The book contains more than 3,575 species of flora and fauna.

More than 150 experts, scientists, NGO representatives, students and other interested individuals participated in the International Conference on the “Conservation and Management of Vulture Populations” (14-16 November 2005, Thessaloniki, Greece). Emphasis was given to transnational cooperation and representatives of Balkan NGOs (Bulgaria, Croatia, FYROM, Serbia and Montenegro) as well as Turkey, Ukraine and Israel were invited to participate.

Der derzeit prognostizierte Klimawandel wird für Natur und Landschaft ebenso wie für die Landnutzung tiefgreifende, wenn auch noch nicht in allen Details und Konsequenzen absehbare Folgen haben. Im Rahmen des Forschungsvorhabens „Einfluss veränderter Landnutzungen auf Klimawandel und Biodiversität“ wurden umfassende Informationen zu den bereits feststellbaren und erwarteten Auswirkungen des Klimawandels zusammengetragen und in diesem Band veröffentlicht.
