Como nossas cidades continuam crescendo, não devemos abandonar a proteção de áreas naturais às pressões da urbanização, e sim defender esses lugares, e realmente tentar criar novos espaços para a natureza dentro do tecido urbano – inclusive dentro dos centros das cidades. Também precisamos tornar a natureza mais acessível às pessoas, fornecendo interpretação e educação, sempre que possível.

With only about one-sixth of the original coral cover left, most Caribbean coral reefs may disappear in the next 20 years, primarily due to the loss of grazers in the region, according to this latest report, Status and Trends of Caribbean Coral Reefs: 1970-2012. This is the most detailed and comprehensive study of its kind published to date – the result of the work of 90 experts over the course of three years.

This volume explains the context and concept of urban protected areas, profiles urban protected areas in 15 metropolitan areas around the world, and offers best practice guidelines.

The Jamaican Iguana Recovery Group (JIRG) is a consortium of local Jamaican organizations and international conservation groups that held a workshop in July 2006 to formulate this Species Recovery Plan (SRP) for the Jamaican iguana. The document presents the priority conservation actions and organizational responsibility for those activities discussed at the workshop.

This publication was released ten years after the Stockholm Conference (1972) and also discusses the role and responsibility of UNEP.

This collection includes essays on the themes of legislation, landscape, diversity, subsistence, and management. Five chapters focus on Slovenia, seven on other European countries, and four on countries elsewhere in the world.
