Distributed in the Sundaland region (Thai-Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Borneo, Java and adjacent smaller islands), langurs of the genus Presbytis are one of the most threatened groups of Asian primates. According to the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, 24 of the 28 taxa (>85%) are threatened with extinction (listed as Critically Endangered, Endangered or Vulnerable). One taxon is classified as Near Threatened and one as Data Deficient.

In order to promote and augment regional initiatives on sustainable aquaculture, aquatic animal health and resource enhancement, and to consequently contribute to poverty alleviation, livelihood and food security, the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center/Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC/AQD) has held a 3-day workshop on the “Promotion of Sustainable Aquaculture, Aquatic Animal Health and Resource Enhancement in Southeast Asia (SARSEA)” on 25–27 June 2019 in Iloilo City, Philippines.

This publication offers nature lovers and visitors to tropical Asia an intriguing insight into the natural history of some of the continent's least known and most threatened species. It also reports on the conservation efforts on the ground that are ongoing to preserve these precious forest landscapes and address the threats of the future. 

The helmeted hornbill faces a conservation crisis that requires an urgent response. A conservation planning workshop bringing together a multistakeholder group consisting of government agencies, non-government organisations, academia, field experts, donors and a zoological institution was held in Sarawak, Malaysia in May 2017 to construct such a response.

This proceedings contain the country reports, review papers, a synopsis of working group discussions and a list of regional policy recommendations for the development and use of alternative dietary ingredients in aquaculture feed development.

This report, two years in the making, provides a comprehensive assessment of progress being made towards SFM in each ITTO producer member country and identifies the challenges remaining. Key findings include that the area deemed to be under sustainable management has grown by 50% over the past 5 years but that several countries continue to struggle to make the transition to sustainability in their tropical forests.
