North and Central America

Here we report on the ninth iteration of the biennial listing of a consensus of the 25 primate species considered to be among the most endangered worldwide and the most in need of conservation measures. The 2016–2018 list of the world’s 25 most endangered primates has five species from Africa, six from Madagascar, nine from Asia, and five from the Neotropics. 

The idea of the Native American living in perfect harmony with nature is one of the most cherished contemporary myths. But how truthful is this larger-than-life image? Facilitar la formación de alianzas entre culturas entre los EE.UU. y América Latina entre académicos y practicantes. Aborda una pregunta recurrente sobre cómo construir relaciones más fuertes entre académicos y practicantes, incluyendo agricultores y ONGs, que trabajan en la intersección entre los temas sobre alimentos, agricultura, y medio ambiente.

Platypus, opossums, kangaroos, koalas...Monotremes and marsupials include a host of animals that have intrigued mammal fanciers for centuries. Monotremes are a very distinctive ancient group of mammals with only a handful of extant species in Australia and New Guinea and marsupials, with roots in South America, likely reached Australia via Antarctica some 50 million years ago. With relatives remaining in America, Marsupials have adapted to an amazing diversity of lifestyles and habitats.

This book seeks to: 1.examine the political, economic, cultural, and ecological dimensions of food sovereignty 2.generate and exchange technically informed and practically applicable knowledge 3.provide an interactive space for the formation of cross-cultural alliances between the U.S. and Latin America among academics and practitioners. It addresses a recurring question on how to build stronger relationships between academics and practitioners, including farmers and NGOs, working at the intersection of food, agricultural, and environmental issues.

Recopila una selección de treinta experiencias de Brasil, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, México, Perú y dos experiencias internacionales, sobre el avance en la vinculación entre ambiente y género, tanto por la apropiación de la dimensión ecológica por parte de las personas que trabajan en los temas sociales, como también por la redimensión de los procesos técnicos de conservación y uso de los recursos.
