Conserving our sea of islands

The Conserving our sea of islands report provides the first comprehensive assessment of area-based conservation in the region. The 23 countries and territories that it covers are diverse but share a common identity and geography, as well as many other features such as extensive customary ownership.

Dugongs - respect and protect

Dugongs have high cultural value and are a valued source of food, medicine and artifacts and thus are an important species for coastal people. Dugongs also play a significant ecological role in maintaining coastal habitats. This publication will give an overview of the six dugong range states in the Pacific region and the measures they have in place to conserve and protect these pristine “ladies of the sea.” It will also highlight some of the events that have taken place since the Pacific Year of the Dugong was launched.

Climate change in the Pacific : scientific assessment and new research : volume 2 : country reports

Climate Change in the Pacific is a rigorously researched, peer-reviewed scientific assessment of the climate of the western Pacific region. Building on the Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, this two volume publication represents a comprehensive resource on the climate of the Pacific. Volume 2 presents individual country reports which provide country-specific projections and relevant climate information.

Disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation in the Pacific : an institutional and policy analysis

The objective of this study is to provide an analysis of the current level of integration of disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation in the region, with an emphasis on the policy and institutional environment. The report outlines some of the barriers to integration and makes recommendations on how they can be addressed.
