This report was made following several visits to the Egyptian Red Sea coast between 1977 and 1980, undertaken under the auspices of the Egyptian Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries and its director Professor A.R. Bayoumi, to advise on any requirements for marine conservation measures in that area. The work relates to a more extensive study of the whole Red Sea during which the author has acted as consultant to ALECSO and IUCN. The present report deals with the northern part of the Egyptian Red Sea, including the areas of Al Ghardaqa and Southern Sinai.
