II. Implementation
Activities carried out to implement this Resolution
Activity
Field activities
Description and results/achievements of activities:
Conducting Sea Water Air Conditioning measurements off the ocean-side coast of Funafuti atoll in Tuvalu. At a depth of 1,000 metres, sea water temperatures were recorded as 4 degrees Celsius, which may possibly be utilized for pumping and circulation through the USP Tuvalu campus (and other facilities) to cool the buildings without use of traditional refrigerants.
Status
Completed
Activity
Scientific/technical activities
Description and results/achievements of activities:
A scale model of the Tuvalu USP campus has been built, and trial experiments are underway to determine thermal efficiency and cooling potential of the seawater air conditioning system, as well as the energy requirements and consumption associated with pumping water from 1,000 metres, over 1km offshore.
Status
On-going
Describe any challenges encountered in implementing this Resolution and the measures taken
N/A
Please report on the result /achievement of the actions taken
A localized model for the potential of sea water air conditioning systems has been built, and the potential feasibility and cost-effectiveness of SWAC technology will be available for nations of the Pacific to determine whether it is a suitable technology for meeting cooling demands with reduced resource inputs and associated emissions.
Identify and briefly describe what future actions/activities are planned for the implementation of this Resolution

Description
Publication and dissemination of the research will take place following the peer review and validation of the findings.
