ActionDescriptionStatus
Education/Communication/Raising awarenessAcoording to WCC 2020 Res 062 Role of children and youth in nature conservation, At Amazónicos por la Amazonía - AMPA, we faithfully believe that environmental awareness and education are essential to raise awareness about the importance of conserving natural resources and protecting the environment for present and future generations. In this sense, through our Communication, Culture and Gender Program, we promote environmental education strategies for children, adolescents and adults, in addition to managing spaces for community and citizen participation to foster a sense of pride and territorial belonging. We developed and implemented the intercultural community environmental education strategy “Nuna y Pacha”, an environmental education proposal designed to share, from literature and play, with local communities about the importance of conservation through the involvement of children in an educational journey, where they learn about the richness of flora and fauna species from voluntary and communal conservation initiatives. This strategy was developed with the support of the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) and World Land Trust (WLT). At the moment it has worked in the communities of Alto Mayo and Bajo Huallaga in the department of San Martin, Peru, and seeks to be replicated in all the department of San Martin. The vision is to involve children in an educational and interactive journey, where they can learn about the richness of species of flora and fauna, in an entertaining and participatory way.On-going
Please report on the result /achievement of the actions taken:

What challenges have you encountered in implementing this Resolution and what measures have you taken to overcome them?:
One of the main challenges has been the language and cultural barrier in indigenous communities. To overcome this, at AMPA we have worked on the cross-cultural adaptation of educational materials, such as the translation of the illustrated story into Shawi language, as well as the environmental education kit materials, allowing us to integrate more children in the conservation of natural resources
Identify and briefly describe what future actions are planned for the implementation of this Resolution:
Future ActionDescription
Education/Communication/Raising awarenessAs key future actions, we seek to expand the “Nuna y Pacha” community environmental education strategy to more communities within the department of San Martin. Stories will be created based on the territories of the Alto Huayabamba and Los Otorongos Conservation Concessions to revalue the biodiversity and natural resources found in these areas.
