The received Activity Reports did not cover a key 2026 activity relevant to this resolution - a workshop to assess, prioritize and develop recommendations for ex-situ conservation of freshwater fish globally. This aligns with OP1-3(a-c). The submitted Activity Report from Aquarium Berlin also contributes to OP3d. This leaves OP3e, 4 and 5 currently with no activity to the best of my knowledge.

Scientific/technical activities
In June 2026, a workshop was held to assess, prioritize and develop recommendations for ex-situ conservation of freshwater fish globally. The primary objective of this workshop is to assess and decide whether and which ex-situ management activities should be recommended for a selection of ~360 of the world’s most imperiled freshwater fishes.

Challenges / lessons learned from Activity Reports
Challenges / lessons learned Description Action
Insufficient / lack of resources

Successful ex situ conservation requires specialised husbandry expertise, suitable facilities and sustained breeding efforts. Maintaining viable captive populations of freshwater fishes can be challenging due to species-specific requirements and the need for long-term population management.
