It was in the spirit of making enhanced concerted efforts at the global, regional, national and local levels that the Blue Solutions Initiative was created.

Blue solutions from Africa

This publication is a result of the Blue Solutions’ third Regional Forum for Oceans, Coasts and Human Well-Being in Africa held in spring 2016. It compiles 32 blue solutions from Africa, most of which were presented during the event. The solutions summarised in this publication focus on topics such as marine protected areas, sustainable tourism, sustainable fisheries, sustainable livelihoods, conservation of resources and biodiversity as well as mitigation of the effects of climate change.

IUCN Bangladesh has established a methodology to assess wetland biodiversity and its management and written this manual in Bengali, which will be helpful for the target audience (mainly local fishermen, farmers and other stakeholders). This book contains easy methodologies to assess fish production, species richness and wildlife diversity as well as to assess biodiversity management and habitat health by monitoring indicator species (fish, dolphin, birds, herpetofauna, etc.).
