This is a report of a range of activities happened in the Pacific during the Year of Biodiversity (PYoB) 2010. It contains the PYoB in pictures, SPREP's work in 2010, initiatives and knowledge products launched during the year.

Este libro articula claramente, por vez primera, cómo las áreas protegidas contribuyen significativamente a reducir los impactos del cambio climático y qué es lo que necesitarían para contribuir más. En un momento en el que entramos en una escala de negociaciones sin precedentes acerca del clima y la biodiversidad, es importante que estos mensajes lleguen alto y claro a los decisores de políticas y que sean traducidos en políticas eficaces y en mecanismos de financiamiento.

The Global Study into management effectiveness evaluation was conducted between late 2005 and 2010. In cooperation with many people across the world, we aimed to strengthen the management of protected areas by compiling the existing work on management effectiveness evaluation, reviewing methodologies, finding patterns and common themes in evaluation results, and investigating the most important factors leading to effective management.
The overall aim of this study is to bring together information on the subject of gender and invasive species, and thereby inform and strengthen future projects, activities and interventions in relation to invasive species prevention and management. The information will be of interest to all those involved in research, policy and practice of invasive species prevention and management.
Although Bonaires coral reefs remain among the healthiest and most resilient in the Caribbean, this IUCN report based on the IUCN Resilience Assessment of Coral Reefs highlights some of the threats that exist to Bonaires coral reefs, and which could have serious implications for resilience to future climate change and other threats. The report identified recommendations for addressing the current threats, as well as high and low resilience sites.
This paper outlines how the design of REDD could influence its poverty implications and the key requirements for ensuring that REDD works for the poor. It summarises the findings of a much longer analysis recently prepared on behalf of the PEP, entitled Making REDD Work for the Poor.
