This book provides information for the identification of the fishes of Laos. All species known from Laotian waters to date are illustrated by colour photographs. Data on the known distributions and habitats are included, as well as indications on synonyms and previous misidentifications.

Private investment in agricultural biotechnology research by seed companies is increasingly rapidly. The privatization of intellectual property, and the associated emergence of the private sector as the major force in agricultural technology generation, is beginning to have a profound impact on farmers and researchers in industrial and developing countries. The report looks at intellectual property right (IPR) from various perspectives - industry, International Agricultural Research Centers (IARCs), and national systems and universities.

The role of hydrometeorological services in disaster risk management

Sponsored and co-organized by the World Bank Europe and Central Asia Disaster Risk Management team, the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR), and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the purpose of this workshop was to share best practices and experience in innovative and state-of-the-art hydrometeorological services and their use in disaster risk reduction mechanisms that are effectively protecting lives, livelihood, and assets.
