Adaptation to change

The production and publication of this book is intended to capture the successes and lessons learnt from the CBA-ECA project and to document the impacts of the Ecologically Critical Areas (ECA) management initiatives, key lessons and impacts, challenges faced and future direction for wise-use management of the ECAs in Bangladesh.

This report provides the findings of biodiversity resource inventory of Bhadaure Tamagi VDC of Kaski district of Western Nepal, with clear mapping of all important ecosystems, including forest, agriculture, wetland and bodies of water.

This document provides background information on the interrelationship between climate change and food security, and ways to deal with the new threat. It also shows the opportunities for the agriculture sector to adapt, as well as describing how it can contribute to mitigating the climate challenge.

The world we live in is changing, and so are our societies. Some transformations we can observe and experience every day. Others, such as the aging of our societies and global warming, might appear far removed from our everyday life. Yet these developments will have profound consequences for us. This book assembles research, forecasts and ideas from scientists around the world. They look into the future and explain what climate change and demographic trends will mean for us.

Released at the opening of the Bonn Climate Change Conference on 1 June, Climate 2020 builds on two prior reports by UNA-UK. With articles from over 50 expert contributors, Climate 2020 considers the prospects for the UNFCCC meeting in Paris this year, including the potential for interaction between the proposed climate agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals.

This study entailed extensive literature review of linkages between adaptation and mitigation at the global policy level, through analysis of relevant policies and protocols in the context of climate change in general and forest landscape restoration (FLR) in particular. This was followed by literature review regarding the current discourse and understanding of adaptation and mitigation options and the synergies between the two, specifically in the context of FLR.
