Le dispositif juridique français demande aujourd'hui à certaines entreprises de faire figurer dans leurs documents de reporting des informations relatives à la biodiversité. L'objectif est d'informer leurs parties prenantes des relations qu'elles entretiennent avec la biodiversité et des actions qu'elles engagent dans ce domaine.

Some companies are currently required by French legislation to include information on biodiversity in their reports, the aim being to inform their stakeholders about the company’s commitment to biodiversity conservation. However, these reporting documents vary in content, form and method, and some companies admit that they have difficulty writing their biodiversity reporting documents. This study is thus designed to improve companies’ biodiversity reporting methodologies and approaches.

Pavan Sukhdev lays out a sweeping new vision for tomorrow’s corporation: one that will increase human wellbeing and social equity, decrease environmental risks and ecological losses, and still generate profit. Corporation 2020 presents new approaches to measuring the true costs of business and the corporation’s obligation to society.

Without biodiversity, there is no business. Companies are therefore major players in this landscape and are responsible for their impact on biodiversity and ecosystem services. But, in order to act responsibly, they need information on where these biodiversity impact-related risks and opportunities lie.

This discussion paper explores the potential for addressing conflict in the forest sector through the use of company-led tools and mechanisms. A major conflict issue for many is that of recognising and negotiating rights to land and resources. Conflicts also arise between companies and communities or civil society organisations over conservation priorities, environmental pollution and benefit sharing.

This Strategy aims to encourage transformational and demonstrable change at the company and sectoral level in how biodiversity is valued and managed by businesses in order to conserve and restore biodiversity and to ensure that biodiversity benefits are shared equitably.

This information paper outlines the priorities for business engagement in the CBD’s agenda post-2010. Furthermore, it is a call for the business and conservation communities (communities which overlap in many important areas) to devise a framework for collaboration that enhances conservation outcomes and ensures sustainable use and equitable benefit sharing in the next decade.
